How does a photoluminescent product work?
Photoluminescence is the phenomenon whereby luminescence is induced by the absorption of visible light, UV or infrared radiation. It is a non-radioactive process.
A photoluminescent material absorbs and stores photons (‘particles’ of light) from a light source and on removal, the stored energy is released as visible light and ‘glows in the dark’.
By integrating photoluminescent material into the manufacturing process, we then produce self-adhesive tapes, rolls, sheets and die-cut shapes as well as rigid boards that glow in the dark.
The highest performing pigments are used within our products, they will remain bright for well over 60 minutes and can be detected by the human eye for over 10 hours after removing the light source and have virtually unlimited number of charging/discharging cycles.
That’s why the Jessup Glo-Brite® safety tapes, boards and signs from by Innova Solutions can be relied upon for 25 years.
Duration and brightness of the glow is dictated by the quantity of photoluminescent pigment within the product, with the classification being:
The PSPA (Photoluminescent Safety Products Association) is an association that, amongst other activities, recommends acceptable levels of performance for photoluminescent material in the industry.
The PSPA defines their class standards in accordance with the methodology set out in the commonly used standard of DIN 67510 pt 1 and ISO 17398 whereby luminance is measured following a specific level of excitation and then calculation made to the threshold of visibility which is 0.32mcd/m2.

What is photoluminescent used for?
Newly developed photoluminescent materials have now opened up numerous solutions to architectural, marine and aviation projects for use in safety way-guidance systems.
The most common commercial and industrial uses for photoluminescent materials are in the manufacture of safety or ‘egress’ guidance and emergency signage or marker tapes.
Indeed such are there properties, mandatory standards and codes are being developed within architectural building and international marine and aviation industries.
Commercial & Industrial uses include:
How is the photoluminescent material supplied?
Innova supply photoluminescent material in 3 formats:
