Spencer Kelly, Co-Owner and Innova’s Sales Director, is taking part in the London Marathon on 3rd Oct. He’s running for Motor Neurone Disease and the MND Association, which has recently been under focus with high-profile ex-rugby players Doddie Weir and Rob Burrow. Spencer’s Father was recently diagnosed with MND, and with no cure and little known about its cause, he’d like to further raise its profile and much-needed funds. Spencer is a keen runner and is training hard to complete the 26-mile course in less than 4 hours, as well as raising as much money as possible to support the MND charity as a tribute to his Father.
Jane Dunleavey, Glenn’s wife and Co-Director is running the Yorkshire Marathon on 17 October. Jane is supporting Tusk, the charity behind much of the wildlife conservation across Africa. Jane’s daughter, Ellie, has always loved elephants and is very interested in conservation, so to support her daughter’s passion, Jane is running a gruelling 26 miles to raise funds for Tusk.
Liz Stephenson, wife of Innova’s Production and Logistics Manager, Adam, is trekking up Ben Nevis on 9 July to raise funds for Alzheimer’s Association. Liz works as part of the pharmacy team at Royal Blackburn Hospital, and along with her friend and colleague Emma, regularly undertakes charity fundraising activities. This year they want to support those living and caring for those, with Alzheimer’s. Considering Liz will be 5 months pregnant when she undertakes this trek, makes it all the more admirable.
Here at Innova we are committed to supporting not only our local community, but our colleagues too, and we take encouraging their personal charitable endeavours seriously. As a business, Innova have undertaken team activities to support mental health in the workplace, raised funds for local NHS workers who have worked tirelessly throughout the pandemic and continue to support Alex Baker, with the player sponsorship of Loughborough Lightning Women’s RFC player, as she represents England U20’s in women’s rugby.
Glenn Dunleavey, MD, adds
“If something is important to a member of our team, then it is important to us as business. As a business who has always supported our local community and charities, I want this to continue, and if, as a company, we can provide a platform for this, we will.
I am incredibly proud of Spencer, Jane and Liz, and look forward to supporting them, and cheering them on, where we can, over the coming months.
All are very worthy, and personal causes, and I urge anyone who can, to sponsor them. Thank you.”
